DOH Eyes Access of COVID-19 Drugs through Retailers

MANILA, Philippines — Tinitingnan ng Department of Health (DOH) ang isang bagong patakaran na magbibigay-daan sa pag-access ng ilang gamot sa COVID-19 sa pamamagitan ng mga retailer, sinabi ni Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire nitong Miyerkules.

Gayunpaman, binanggit ni Vergeire na ang mga partikular na probisyon ng batas ay kumokontrol sa pagbebenta ng mga naturang gamot sa ilalim ng emergency use authorization (EUA) at compassionate special permit (CSP).

Sinabi ito ni Vergeire nang tanungin tungkol sa mungkahi ni Dr. Rontgene Solante, hepe ng Adult Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine unit ng San Lazaro Hospital, na i-subsidize ng gobyerno ang COVID-19 antiviral drugs tulad ng molnupiravir sa mga ospital.

“There should be monitoring of the patient that should be given, but I think the bottom line is accessibility and this accessibility should also include a subsidy for the government that it should be paid for those who really can’t afford this drug,” ayon kay Solante.

Vergeire said this is also the direction of the government.
