EU to Give P605.4 million for Peace Initiatives in Bangsamoro

Ang European Union ay nakatakdang magbuhos ng €10.4 milyon (humigit-kumulang P605.4 milyon) para sa mga hakbangin na sumusuporta sa normalization program ng Bangsamoro peace process.

Ang Project Steering Committee (PSC) ng Mindanao Peace and Development Program-Peace and Development in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) ay inaprubahan na lamang ng apat na proyekto para sa pagpopondo ng EU, ayon kay Director Wendell Orbeso ng Office of Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity.

Ang PSC ay co-chaired ng presidential peace adviser, Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.; BARMM Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal, na isa ring peace implementing panel chair ng Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF); at Christoph Wagner, pinuno ng kooperasyon ng EU Delegation to the Philippines.

Ang mga nagpapatupad ng proyekto ay ang United Nations Development Programme, Center for Humanitarian Dialogue, Initiatives for Dialogue and Empowerment through Alternative Legal Services, at United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund.

Sinabi ni Orbeso na ang mga proyekto ay partikular na tutugon sa mga mahahalagang isyu sa kahirapan, kapayapaan, at seguridad.
